FOND DU LAC - A Campbellsport woman who was driving when three of her friends were killed in a crash has been sentenced to one year in jail.
Carly Ottery, 19, was sentenced in Fond du Lac County court Monday. Prosecutors say she was driving more than 100 miles per hour in February when she lost control of an SUV filled with friends from Campbellsport High School who were attending a slumber party.
Katie Berg, Caitlin Scannell, and Sabrina Stahl were killed. There were five other passengers in the vehicle.
In July, Ottery pleaded no contest to three counts of homicide by negligent use of a vehicle as part of a plea deal.
Special prosecutor Christian Gossett recommended five years probation, but a judge sentenced her to the jail time as well as five years probation after she is released. She will be able to leave jail for work, school and counseling. She will also have to perform 100 hours of community service during each year of probation, including speaking with school groups about the dangers of speeding and working with special needs individuals.
