APPLETON - School officials in Appleton say a student at North High School has a confirmed case of tuberculosis.
A letter is posted on the school’s website. It states the student will remain in isolation until the student is no longer contagious.
The Appleton Health Department is offering free testing and treatment if necessary.
Health officials say they have contacted everyone who may have had contact with the student.
Symptoms include coughing, fever, night sweats and weight loss. Patients may also cough up blood.
In Wisconsin, approximately 70 new cases of tuberculosis disease are diagnosed each year.
