APPLETON - The former owner of a fire equipment manufacturer has pleaded not guilty to charges he embezzled more than $1.4 million from his company.
David K. Moser, 57, is charged with the crimes in 2006 and 2007 when he owned Elite Power Products/Elite Fire Apparatus of Tilleda. Investigators say the town of Bear Creek, as well as communities in Massachusetts, New York and Indiana paid Elite for fire trucks, and Moser used the money for personal items and never delivered the trucks. He is also accused of writing checks for fire truck parts to companies in Green Bay and Marshfield, then stopping payments on those checks.
Prosecutors allege Moser, who lives in Grand Chute, used the money to buy a yacht, vacations, botox and spa treatments, jewelry and other personal purchases.
When confronted by investigators in 2009, Moser denied using any of the money from his company for personal use. However, investigators say bank records prove otherwise.
Moser’s trial is scheduled for March 27.
