First New Year's baby born in Appleton

APPLETON - A Wrightstown couple welcomed a baby of firsts today.

This baby girl was the first to be born in our area this New Year's Day.

Melaine Belle was born at 2:18 a.m. at Appleton Medical Center.

She weighs 8 pounds 2 ounces and is the first child for parents Hannah and Corey Koehler.

The new mom says her New Year's baby is causing quite a stir.

"At first we were kind of shy about having anybody... and so it was kind of a joke that she ended up being the first one cause now she's getting a lot of attention,” said Hannah Koehler.

The mother says she never expected to give birth on New Year's Day.

Her baby's original due date was December 20th.
