OSHKOSH - A billionaire investor in Oshkosh Corp. continues his attempt to take over the company.
Carl Icahn owns about 10 percent of the company's stock, but wants more than 50 percent.
Icahn's offer of $32.50 per share expires Monday.
Oshkosh Corp. on Thursday again urged shareholders to resist the takeover attempt led by Icahn.
The company released a statement which reads in part:
"We believe that our track record and forecasted outlook speak for themselves and encourage shareholders not to tender their shares into Mr. Icahn's inadequate offer.”
That statement comes in response to one from Icahn which seeks shares from stockholders but also says:
"If we do not receive tenders of at least 25% of the outstanding shares by the expiration of the offer on December 3rd (Monday), we will respect the shareholders' wishes, drop out tender offer and proxy fight and move on to other endeavors."
Icahn previously stated he wants Oshkosh Corp. to be more active in the truck-building industry.
