FOND DU LAC - A New Berlin man will spend a year in jail and three years on probation on one conviction related to allowing a dog to attack his son.
Fond du Lac County prosecutors argued Joel Kennedy allowed a dog to attack his 18-year-old son while the teen was tied upside down last September. They say another man, Richard Lisko, commanded the dog to attack. Lisko accused the teen of stealing money and pills from his house.
In December, Kennedy was convicted of four counts relating the attack, including false imprisonment, reckless injury and substantial battery. He was also acquitted of two other charges.
Thursday, he was sentenced only on the false imprisonment conviction. The judge said Kennedy will be sentenced on the other three counts after he testifies in Lisko’s trial. That is scheduled for May.
