MENASHA - While this weekend marks the start of the gun deer hunt, some people in Menasha spent the day learning about deer - and turkeys.

People gathered at Heckrodt Wetland Reserve for an educational event.

There were hands on stations involving both turkeys and white tail deer.

This is the second year for the event.

Organizers said it's a great way to learn more about wildlife.

"People have a lot of questions, and so this is a way for us to answer those questions and make it fun for them as well," said naturalist and education coordinator Heather Weigelt.

Organizers said they focus on two different animals each year.

They hope to continue to make this an annual event.
