APPLETON - Lawrence University introduced its sixteenth president to the community Thursday afternoon.

President Mark Burstein delivered his first remarks at the Lawrence Memorial Chapel.

There was a large turnout of students, faculty and community members who came to hear him.

Burstein says he plans to focus his first year on learning about the campus and the community.

"It is very important as we think about Lawrence's future and try to improve Lawrence that we also do it in a way that helps Appleton and the surrounding Fox Cities,” said Burstein.

Burstein most recently served as the executive vice president of Princeton University.

He will take office on July 1.
