APPLETON - People in the Fox Valley spent Saturday out in the community, making a difference.
It's part of Make a Difference day, a national day of doing good.
Hundreds of volunteers across the state participated in various community events.
That includes people who were planting bulbs at Riverview Gardens in Appleton.
Those involved said it's a great way to give back to the community.
"We have such a wonderful community here, it's a wonderful place to live and this is a day we can give back. I think It's extremely important just to be thankful for where we live," said volunteer Ashley Ondresky.
The annual event is sponsored by USA Weekend magazine and its 800 carrier newspapers.
It's held every fourth Saturday in October.
