CHILTON - A plea deal has been reached in a Calumet County murder case.
James Loewe, 35, entered a no contest plea to first-degree reckless homicide Wednesday.
Police say he and Robert Saurbeir beat Joseph Baer to death last year on a farm in Rantoul.
As part of Loewe's plea deal, a charge of theft from a financial institution and bail jumping were dismissed.
Loewe faces a maximum of 40 years in prison and 20 years extended supervision when he is sentenced. That hearing has yet to be scheduled.
Saurbeir's sentencing is set for June 13.
