APPLETON - Appleton police have arrested an Illinois man for allegedly trying to sell heroin.
Antonio Moore, 20, was taken into custody Tuesday in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 600 block of Briarcliff Dr.
Authorities say a search of Moore’s vehicle uncovered 89 bags of heroin, with a street value of $20,000.
The arrest was the result of an investigation between the Lake Winnebago Area MEG Unit and Appleton Police Department.
Police say this arrest is significant given the large amount of heroin available in the Fox Valley. They say the vast majority of heroin comes from Milwaukee and Chicago. Authorities say drug dealers are able to purchase heroin cheaply and in large quantities in those cities, and then resell it for $40 per bag.
Police are recommending multiple charges against Moore. They include delivery of heroin, possession of heroin with intent to deliver and resisting arrest. At this time no charges have been filed.
