NEW LONDON - The Packers fell short of their goals this weekend, but an athlete representing the team, came back a champion. The 13-year-old New London boy won his age group in the NFL's Punt, Pass and Kick competition in Atlanta.

At halftime in the Georgia Dome Sunday Jack Noffke was announced a champion.  Being from New London Jack wore green and gold representing his favorite team.

"Feels really good to be able to win for the Packers," said Jack.

To make it to nationals, the 13-year-old had to get through local, regional and state heats.  He beat three other boys his age Saturday by punting, passing and kicking for a total of 385 feet, 9 inches. Jack's closest competitor was 92 feet short of that.

"I was very happy. I just couldn't believe it, because I thought I had no chance of winning and I can't believe I even made it to nationals," said Jack.

Jack's mom Jill Noffke told FOX 11 she's excited for his big win, but not surprised. He practiced daily and is a dedicated quarterback for his school's team.

"This year, his third game, he broke his finger, went onto the sidelines for, like, two minutes and was back in the game," said Jill.

Jack told us he was nervous for the competition and to be a part of halftime during a playoff game, but he had a secret weapon.

"It's lots of practice. Every competition you go to is stressful," said Jack.

Jack told is despite the stress he made friends with some of his competitors. Jill told us knowing her son is a good sport makes her even more proud than his win.

"Very proud, because that's what we've always tried to instill in them.  It doesn't matter if you win or lose. It's how you play and how you behave," said Jill.

Jack said he was booed by some Atlanta fans who dislike the Packers, but even that couldn't shake him.

"It's okay if they don't like me.  As long as I accomplished what I came to do," said Jack.

One other area finalist: Alayna Suprenand of Fond du Lac finished 2nd in the 8 and 9-year-old girls category. While Ava Reuter of Chippewa Falls was 2nd in the 6 and 7-year-old girls category.
