APPLETON - A little tree proudly stands on Bobbi Leitsch's lawn in Appleton, decked out in red, white and blue. She says it's important people remember those serving overseas this time of year. Including the three whose pictures adorn her home.
"I have two of my own sons in the military and a son-in-law in the military," Leitsch told FOX 11.
But Leitsch said her special Christmas tree has been knocked over, into pieces twice in the past few weeks. She said she and her husband have the tree firmly held in place with cinder blocks. So they suspect vandalism.
"Oh, it makes me angry. Very angry. And all of my military friends and family are angry!" exclaimed Leitsch.
Some of the dirt has been disturbed out here on the Leitschs' lawn. That's because they say they've had to cement their American Flag into the ground, because it, too, has been a victim of vandalism in the past.
"Thrown on the ground. We've had them thrown on the sidewalk, in the trees," explained Leitsch.
It's emotional for the military mom. She just asks that the disrespect stop.
"Leave it alone. Respect the people that are fighting for them," stated Leitsch.
Whether it stops or not, Leitsch told us she won't stop honoring those who serve.
"No. We'll put it up as many times as it comes down," said Leitsch firmly.
But Leitsch has better things to think about.
"It's a special Christmas. They're all gonna be here for three days at the same time," said Leitsch, smiling.
Her three military men standing guard outside the house will be inside soon.
The spokesperson for the Appleton Police Department was unavailable for an interview Friday, but he did tell FOX 11 the department will add an extra patrol past the Leitsch home.
