NEW LONDON - A local church brought the original story of Christmas to life with an interactive family event.
A live nativity scene transformed a New London community center into the city of Bethlehem for the evening.
There was a marketplace, a palace, even a stable filled with real animals!
Live actors played Mary and Joseph.
Guests were able to interact with each scene.
Organizers say the event celebrates the true meaning of Christmas.
"It's so important to do this because we want to celebrate Jesus' birthday. The reason he came to Earth was to save us from our sins, and we're thankful because that's why Christmas is so important to us," said coordinator Linda Wolfe.
The live nativity also featured hands-on activities for the kids, including several crafts.
Living Waters Church of New London sponsored the annual event.
