FOND DU LAC - One Campbellsport High School student was killed and another hospitalized after an early morning crash in Fond du Lac.
Police say they were called to Fond du Lac Ave. south of E. Pioneer Rd. just before 3 a.m. A southbound vehicle had crossed the center line, gone off the road and hit a tree.
The driver, 18-year-old Gilberto Castaneda-Bobadilla of the Eden area, was trapped and had to be extricated. He was flown to Theda Clark Medical Center in Neenah. One passenger, 17-year-old Alex W. Schultz of Campbellsport, was taken to St. Agnes Hospital in Fond du Lac. A second passenger, 17-year-old Giovanni M. Clouse of the Dotyville area, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Clouse and Schultz were identified as students at Campbellsport High School. Police say they notified school officials of the crash.
The road was closed until about 9 a.m. The State Patrol is helping investigate the crash.
