OSHKOSH - Two construction companies are facing nearly $120,000 in potential fines following a deadly crane collapse in Winnebago County.
It happened on July 5 at the construction site on Highway 41 over the Lake Butte des Morts causeway. Joseph Bidler, 35, of Green Bay was killed and the crane operator was seriously injured.
OSHA says Lunda Construction of Black River Falls faces six violations and a $105,000 fine.
Choice Construction of Menomonee Falls faces four citations and a $13,220 fine.
Both companies have 15 business days to comply, request an informal conference or contest the findings.
Lunda corporate counsel Josh Swanson had no comment. Choice owner Brian Mitchell says his company hasn't had enough time yet to decide what to do.
Lunda Construction was previously cited for three serious violations after an employee was killed in April while unloading a crane as part of the U.S. 41 project in Brown County.
