OSHKOSH - A Christian school system in Oshkosh is looking for a new leader.
Oshkosh Christian School and Valley Christian High School have announced that head administrator John Davis is resigning at the end of the school's fiscal year. Davis has agreed to become the superintendent of Heritage Christian Schools in Brookfield. He had been in Oshkosh for four years.
"I was very happy here in Oshkosh and really wasn't looking to go anywhere else," Davis in a news release. "Heritage officials asked me to consider being a candidate for Superintendent. They had faced some very difficult financial situations in recent years, somewhat akin to what OCS/VCHS had experienced just before I came. I could see how I might be able to help them. After some soul searching and prayer, I felt that it was right to go forward as long as doors kept opening. I was offered the job and accepted it this week."
OCS/VCHS leaders say the school system's finances have stabilized during Davis' tenure. They also credited Davis with leading a process for accreditation and beginning an international student program. The school renovated playground space and dedicated the school forest during Davis' tenure.
The school board expects to create a plan for filling the administrator position in the next few weeks.
