Missing man is son of Packers assistant coach

Michael T. Philbin last seen early Sunday

OSHKOSH - Green Bay Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin's son is missing.

Oshkosh police say Michael T. Philbin, 21, of Ripon, was last seen around 2 a.m. Sunday. He had been visiting friends in Oshkosh the previous night. Philbin is a student at Ripon College.

Philbin made the dean's list his first two years at the school. That means he had a grade point average of at least 3.4.

In 2009, a Brown County judge sentenced Michael Philbin to six months in jail after he was convicted of sexually assaulting two teen girls and two counts of battery.

His disappearance comes as the Packers prepare to face the New York Giants in an NFC playoff game Sunday in Green Bay.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Philbin family during this difficult time," Packers general manager Ted Thompson said in a news release. "We ask anyone with information about Michael to contact the Oshkosh Police Department.”

Philbin is described as 5-foot-11, weighing 155 pounds, with brown hair and hazel eyes.

Police have not said if this case is related to the search for a man who was reported to have fallen through the ice on the Fox River.

Anyone with information is asked to call Oshkosh police at (920) 236-5700.
