OSHKOSH - The future is clearer tonight for some Oshkosh Area School District employees.
The Oshkosh School Board unanimously voted down a proposal that would have eliminated more than 30 teaching positions in the district.
The resolution was aimed to help offset the district's $3.4 million budget deficit for the 2012-2013 school year.
District officials say adding an extra class period for middle and high school teachers would have allowed for the positions to be eliminated. They say it would have saved the district $1.9 million.
Under the proposal, teachers would have been teaching six of seven class periods, instead of five.
FOX 11's Ben Krumholz was at the meeting and will have more on FOX 11 News at Nine. He will also have more on Good Day Wisconsin.
