FOND DU LAC - Some people in Fond du Lac lost their hair, in hopes of gaining something else - a cure for cancer.
The Saint Baldrick's Foundation hosted an event at Fond du Lac High School Sunday.
The event included much more than than just haircuts.
Participants were able to get their face painted, and there was also a bake sale.
The event raised money for childhood cancer research.
Worldwide, organizers say around 160 thousand children are diagnosed with cancer each year.
And as part of the treatment, many of them lose their hair.
"Childhood cancers are so incredibly different from adult cancers. A child could get a form of breast cancer and treatment could be so much different from an adult with breast cancer," said volunteer event coordinator Robin Schroeder.
The Saint Baldrick's Foundation is hoping to raise $70 thousand through its events this year.
In the last four years, the organization has raised more than $200 thousand.
