NEW LONDON - It might be cold outside, but Sunday was a beautiful day to enjoy what winter has to offer.
A New London snowshoeing group met for the first time at the Mosquito Hill Nature Center .
The group will meet for eight sessions through the end of February.
Participants learned a bit about the activity, and then took off for a brisk hike on the trails.
The class instructor said snowshoeing is great exercise.
"People underestimate the actual workout that you get from snowshoes, or snowshoeing. It's, you're really getting a lot of cardiovascular exercise, and it's, it's a workout!" said Mosquito Hill naturalist Jessica Miller.
Miller said each session will also include a focus on nature and enjoying the winter season.
