TOWN OF MENASHA - A 30-year-old town of Menasha man was tasered after allegedly threatening a woman with a knife.
Police say it happened Friday around 1:50 p.m. in the 1600 block of Racine Rd. in the town of Menasha.
Police were called to the apartment while the woman removed some of her things.
As the officer arrived, she saw a man and a woman on the balcony of the apartment and it appeared the woman had been crying. The man told the officer to leave.
Police say the officer tried to talk to the man and woman. Eventually the woman was able to get out of the apartment. Once outside, police say the woman stated the man had a knife. Police say the man yelled at the officer to tase him, and the officer ordered the man to drop the knife. The man later dropped the knife and ran back into the apartment. Police say the officer went after the man. Not knowing if the man had another weapon, the officer drew her Taser.
Police say the officer then repeatedly asked the man to follow her orders before she tased the man and took him into custody.
Police later learned the man had allegedly threatened to cut the woman’s throat and tried to prevent the woman from leaving the apartment.
The man was brought to the Winnebago County Jail. Police are recommending charges of false imprisonment, disorderly conduct, and resisting arrest.
