WAUPACA COUNTY - Two people are in the hospital following a crash on an icy highway in Waupaca County.
It happened Friday around 7:37 a.m. on Highway 10 near County Rd. E.
Sheriff’s officials say an eastbound vehicle lost control on an icy patch, went through the median and into westbound traffic striking a semi.
Authorities say the driver of the first vehicle was ejected and landed on the highway. The Jaws of Life were needed to remove a child from that vehicle.
Authorities say the semi went into the ditch and struck a traffic sign. The semi driver was not hurt.
Both the injured driver and child were transported to the hospital. Their conditions are not known.
The Waupaca County Sheriff’s Department was assisted by State Patrol, Waupaca Area Ambulance, Waupaca Fire Department and Waupaca Area First Responders.
