WAUPACA - Waupaca police have arrested two people believed to be involved in burglaries and thefts throughout Waupaca County.

Police say they were called to Nelson’s Strike Zone, 400 Oak Street, around 3 a.m. Friday, for a report of a possible burglary. When officers got there, they saw someone leaving the bar. Officers ran after the man and arrested him. The man, identified as Andrew P. Akright, 27, of Manawa, was armed with a 9 mm handgun.

Police believe Akright broke in to the bar and then broke in to gaming machines.

Akright is also suspected in connection with burglaries of Club 22 and Courtside Bar in Waupaca.

Several hours later, police say they arrested Wesley A. Martin, 23, at his home.

Police believe both men are responsible for several burglaries, although neither man has been formally charged in court.
