Thousands of area residents turned out for a local tradition, and some exercise, before sitting down for the big meal.
Festival Foods held its 5th annual Turkey Trot Thursday.
Races were held in Green Bay, Appleton, Oshkosh, Manitowoc and Fond du Lac.
Participants were able to choose between a five-mile run or two-mile walk.
More than 8,000 runners took part in the 5-mile event.
Runners say it's a great time for the whole family.
"It's our first time as a family. My wife and brother are walking with one of our dogs, a daughter ran and another daughter should be finishing soon," Joe Braun of Green Bay said. "It's a great event, great family event. I love it."
Proceeds from each race will benefit the Boys & Girls Clubs and YMCAs in their community.
