GREEN BAY - Do you know your geography?
Some Green Bay area students were testing their knowledge, challenging sailors stationed in San Diego.
Six Lombardi Middle School students went head-to-head with the USS Green Bay sailors.
It was all part of the 6th annual Geography Bowl.
The competition was held through satellite Friday at the NWTC Student Center.
The results of the competition? The Lombardi students won with more than 1,300 points. The sailors ended up with a score of zero.
School officials say the competition is a big deal to students.
“The competition is a fun competition, and they look forward to it,” said Ann Barszcz, Lombardi Middle School principal. “We pump it up, and wanting a Vince Lombardi bobble head trophy is probably a part of it, that’s the best part of it.”
Winning the trophy did take some hard work though. The sailors have won four of the five Geography Bowls. School officials say the students and staff spent countless hours preparing.
