GREEN BAY - Like many people, JJ Midnight enjoys singing for fun, but he also hopes to show young people the health benefits of using their pipes.
“A lot of people don't think of that,” said Midnight. “Singing is much more than just entertainment. It's much more than fun.”
Midnight and members of his tribute band, Celebrating Queen, are taking the "Everybody Sings Project" to schools across the country.
On Monday, the group took to Green Bay East High School, hoping to share what taking to a tune can cure.
“It vastly can improve how your lungs function,” said Midnight. “Memory, depression, there's a whole list of things.”
Some students participating in the project weren't familiar with the lesson’s lyrics.
“I don't know the band, but my sister told me I've heard them before,” said Yeng Yang, a freshman.
“I've listened to them, I don't know much,” said Wyatt Evraets, a freshman.
The Green Bay East students learned of Queen quickly, and got on their school's auditorium stage to experience the benefits of singing first hand.
“I got dragged, like they forcibly dragged me up the stage,” said Evraets.
“It's a tribute to one of the greatest bands and meanwhile it's encouraging kids to get involved, telling them the positive benefits of singing,” said Evan Ash, a junior.
Celebrating Queen is performing this Thursday at the Meyer Theatre in downtown Green Bay.
