DE PERE - The Fox River will be crowded this summer with recreational boaters and workers cleaning up the riverbed sharing the water.
Officials are warning boaters to take caution near work zones.
Crews will be working 24 hours a day this summer, Monday through Saturday morning. It's part of the Fox River Cleanup Project to remove PCB's from the riverbed.
Underwater pipelines that are part of the project are a risk to boaters.
"We're asking that you treat our work area like a construction zone on a highway, when you see orange barricades on a highway project you slow down...we want everyone to be safe and don't want anyone to get hurt," said Greg Smith, the project manager for J.F. Brennan Company, Inc.
More warning signs and buoys have been put out to mark the unsafe areas.
The Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources says there was an incident last year where a boat struck the underwater pipeline. No one was injured.
