BELLEVUE - There’s a new option for parents making custodial exchanges in Brown County.
The Child Exchange Zone, located in the parking lot of the Sheriff’s Office in Bellevue, creates a safe neutral territory.
Sheriff’s officials say the exchanges must be person to person.
If you'd like use the area, just look for the orange signs. The zone is under 24 hour surveillance.
“Unfortunately not all parental situations are amicable. And we are hoping that this provides somewhat of a more secure environment for parental exchanges to take place,” said Brown County Sheriff’s Captain Keith Deneys.
A grant from the Brown County Crime Prevention Foundation helped fund the project.
