GREEN BAY - There are some Packers ties to the donations received Tuesday by local cancer support groups.
Jerry Parins, the former Packers director of security, presented a check for more than $86,000 to six local groups.
The money was raised from last year's Jerry Parins Cruise for Cancer motorcycle ride.
Jerry thanked supporters Tuesday and expressed the importance of bringing awareness to cancer.
"Thank God we have the technology. We have the great staff of the hospitals. The great nurses, the people that care about others and the compassion to help other people and it brings it there but that cancer still is knocking people down it tears families apart," said Parins.
In eight years, the Cruise for Cancer rides have raised more than $500,000.
This year's benefit will be Saturday, June 9th.
