Cyber Monday offers online deals

ASHWAUBENON - Cyber Monday is one of several days that big retailers have marked on their calendars.

Americans are expected to spend $1.5 billion.

It's a big day nationwide and here in Northeast Wisconsin.

A month before Christmas, Maria Corona is almost done.

"I do most of my shopping on the Black Friday," said Maria Corona of Green Bay.

But Corona couldn't resist Cyber Monday's deals.

"The ones that I've been looking at now are mostly shoes, and that I've found," said Corona.

Shopko in Ashwaubenon has online offers not found in the store.

"Electronics, toys, jewelry," said Mike Sidders, Shopko e-commerce vice president.

And this day only, the freight is free.

"Being able to ship to where you need the gifts to go, just kind of takes the one step out of the process for the customer in a really busy period of time," said Sidders.

At the Packers Pro Shop, jerseys are fifteen percent off Monday only.

Katie Clark and Corey Luke are from Tampa, Florida.

"Since so many of our friends are out of state, and far from where you live we've been shopping online," said Clark.

"It's just easier, and convenient for us," said Luke.

Officials say online sales account for 40 percent of the Pro Shop's revenue.

"It's an 'I want it now' mentality. And you want people to be able to navigate through your site as easily and quickly as possible, and be able to find what they want," said Kate Hogan, Packers Pro Shop retail director.

And with smart phones seemingly everywhere, deals are only a finger tap away. Cyber Monday is becoming bigger than just one day.

"Those days have become kind of that period from Thanksgiving on. The customer is expecting to see deals. They're expecting to see new things, new websites. They're expecting to see new offers," said Sidders.

"I come to the store, and yeah, the prices are better online," said Corona.

Shoppers can expect online deals through the holidays. And on December 17, it's National Free Shipping Day.

The day is the last chance for people to send gifts if they want them to arrive before Christmas.
