SUAMICO - It was a Manitowoc man who died of a heart attack after competing in a mountain bike race this weekend.

Sheriff officials say 38-year-old Robert Schuette was cycling up a steep hill during the race at the Brown County Reforestation Camp.

He got off his bike and told a nurse he couldn't breathe.

Schuette was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

More than 600 competitors took part in the 12-mile race.
