BELLEVUE - Flopping ears and wagging tails filled Josten Park in Bellevue Saturday. It was all for a canine carnival fundraiser.
Proceeds from the event will help support the development of a public dog park in the village.
A variety of games and contests were held for dogs. A dog costume contest and pet photos were also offered.
Organizers say a dog park is important for the community.
"We don't really have something in this area and there are a lot of dogs that, you know, like to get out and run and meet other dogs," said Lisa Lorenz, a veterinarian with Oak View Veterinary Hospital, "So it's a great way to socialize and actually be around other people too."
Lorenz says that dogs are so much a part of our families now and a dog park will offer just a great activity to allow the family to get out with their pets.
Organizers say they need between $30,000 and $50,000 to build a dog park. That figure includes fences, parking, and a driveway.
