Fans celebrate Halloween at Lambeau

GREEN BAY - It's not unusual for fans to get decked out in green and gold for Packers games.

But with Halloween coming up, people were celebrating the fall tradition at Lambeau Field with an obvious Packers twist.

Like Kyle “Buddy the Elf” Hunsader of New Franken.

Dressed as Will Ferrell’s character Buddy from the 2003 Christmas comedy film “Elf,” Hunsader – in yellow tights and a festive green jacket with a white fur collar – fit in among the thousands of game day faithful.

“Took a reindeer," said Hunsader of Buddy’s mode of transportation to Lambeau Field Sunday.

"[It was] cold,” said Hunsader, “But then it got warmed up once I got down here. Santa's a Packers fan. Some kids want the Cowboys toys and all those, but we still give them Packers toys."

If you were looking for a ballerina, there was one of those too, like Tori Konop of Cold Spring, Minn.

"We were going to go as zombies,” said Konop, wearing a Green Bay Packers jersey as well as a frilly tutu around her waist.

But Konop said that changed when she realized she would have to cover herself in fake blood.

“We didn't want to wreck our Packers outfits!"

But worry not Packer faithful! There was at least one zombie stumbling around Lambeau Field Sunday – by the name of Brett Favre.

"I'll never retire!” said Favre zombie Alyska Gutzwiller of San Juan Capistrano, Calif. “I can still play!"

Wearing a shredded jersey of former Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre, and stage makeup to make it look like her skin is peeling off, Gutzwiller said there’s only one way Favre would hit the field as the Packers QB.

"Zombie apocalypse,” said Gutzwiller. “He will rise as a Packer zombie."

Despite Halloween being days away, some fans aren't doing anything different than any other Sunday, like Charles "Chuckie" Woodson.

"It's normal!" said Pat McClone of Fond du Lac, wearing a mask of the character Chuckie from the 1980s horror film “Child’s Play.”

Others dress up for the game because it’s a special occasion – not because it’s Halloween.

"I always come here and dress up,” said Vicki Renee of Rochester, N.Y., wearing a real fox fur pelt with Green and Gold ears.

“Last year, I dressed up as a white coyote for the last Giants game. But Green Bay – green and gold is the costume," Renee said.

Walking down Holmgren Way Sunday morning, Dominic Martinetti, 10, of New Berlin looked just like Clay Matthews. He’s got a helmet, Packers jersey and bright yellow pants. The only difference is Martinetti’s about one-fourth the size of the Packers linebacker.

Matthews is his favorite player, but there’s a much simpler reason he chose to wear number 52.

“Because no other jersey fit over the pads," said Martinetti.
