GREEN BAY - A "Fill the Truck" toy drive helped collect presents for local children.

The event took place at area Walmart stores today.

Shoppers were given lists of suggested gifts to add collection bins.

Along with toys, people could also donate new coats for area children.

Local families will then receive the gifts in time for the holidays.

"We're probably going to have around 2,900 people signed up for this year's Christmas distribution. So any toys that we bring in today stay right here in the community, locally, and go to fulfill those needs in the community," said Steve Jandt with the Salvation Army.

Walmart and the Salvation Army partnered up for the first time for the event.

"Fill the Truck" toy drives took place not just in our area, but at Walmart stores across the country.
