GREEN BAY - Green Bay firefighters reported 14 fires during the recently-completed holiday season.
Firefighters say 10 of the fires were caused by unattended cooking, one was in a chimney, one was caused by an unattended candle placed too close to a couch, another was electrical and the other fire was caused by improperly using a cooking appliance.
At the beginning of the holiday season, wreaths lit with green lights were placed at fire stations across the city. With each fire, a red bulb replaced a green one.
The wreath campaign ran from Nov. 24 until Jan. 1, including the holidays of Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Year’s Day.
