GREEN BAY - The Green Bay Packers are vowing to put safety first during the renovation project at Lambeau Field.
Monday, the U.S. Department of Labor's Occupational Safety and Heath Administration set up a partnership with the Packers and Miron Construction. The partnership is an effort to reduce injuries to workers during the Lambeau Field Stadium Improvement Project.
OSHA's partnership agreement is focused on identifying and controlling safety hazards.
“We would much rather come out and be involved in a partnership than have to come out and look at an accident or fatality,” Frank Winingham of OSHA said. “Fall protection in construction still tends to be the leading accident causer in construction.” >
A total of 1,200 workers are expected to work on the $143 million facelift.
The upgrades include a new gate and rooftop platform. About 6,700 new seats are also being added.
The project is scheduled to be completed in June 2013.
