ALLOUEZ - In honor of National Read Across America Day, two Green Bay Packers players made a special stop at a Green Bay area elementary school.
Tight end Tom Crabtree and running back Brandon Saine stopped by Webster Elementary Friday afternoon. They read to students in kindergarten through 5th grade.
National Read Across America day is Saturday. It's also the birthday of popular children's author Dr. Suess.
The players say it's always fun to help out with kids.
"Its really cool. I was able to do it in college at Ohio State and to be able to do it now I thing it's really fun,” Saine said. “I think it's huge and I'm glad I could be a part of it."
"It's a tight-knit community in Green Bay, so if they're Packer fans as well it's kind of a cool way for us to maybe get some kids more interested in reading that normally wouldn't be," Crabtree said.
The students have been participating in Dr. Suess-related activities all week.
