GREEN BAY - Green Bay police still trying to figure out what led to the deaths of a west side couple.
The husband and wife were found dead in their home Thursday morning, and police say it appears they had been there for days.
The home is on West Point road, just west of Lombardi Middle School. Police say the 49-year old man, and 52 year old woman were found on a bedroom floor.
There seems to be more questions than answers.
"We don't know what the details are but you know, that's our biggest concern, we moved into the neighborhood thinking it was safe and I'd like to think we're safe here," explained neighbor Scott Milheiser.
Police say the public is not in danger, but they're still trying to piece together exactly what happened.
Authorities say the man's employer went to the house to check on him. Through a window, police say, the employer saw the man lying on the floor.
That's when he called police. The employer told officers the man had not been to work for a couple of days.
Neighbors say others also visited the home to check up on the couple earlier this week.
"Yesterday, someone knocked on the door and wanted to known if we had seen the people across the street because they are concerned about their welfare being they were on vacation and were expected to have returned," Milheiser said.
Authorities say there did not appear to be any forced entry.
"No obvious signs of what caused the death," explained Green Bay Police Captain Todd Thomas. "So at this point, we treat it as a death investigation. There will be autopsies and some medical exams to try to determine what caused the death. There is no signs of obvious trauma."
Thomas says until those results come in, they're not ruling anything out. However, he did say there did not appear to be any gas leaks and the fire department did check the house before police went inside.
Neighbors tell FOX 11 the couple had lived in the home since the late 1990's.
Police say they are still unwilling to release the names of the couple.
