Jan. 5 shooting sent 4 to hospital

GREEN BAY - Green Bay police have released more information about a shooting that sent four people to the hospital earlier this month .

Police say the four victims, all males between 17 and 23 years old, have since been released from the hospital. Two were from Green Bay and two were from Chicago.

The shooting happened just after midnight Jan. 5 when the victims were sitting in a car behind a home at 108 N. Ashland Ave.

20-year-old Tony Robinson says he is lucky he wasn't shot during the incident.

“It was devastating,” said Robinson. “I never expected anything like that to happen. It was shocking.”

Robinson says a man started shooting at him, his brother and three friends when they were getting in their car to go party to a downtown Green Bay bar.

“He shot like three, four times before he got into the car and he got up close in the car and got to shooting, shot like nine times, hit everyone,” said Robinson. “I was the only one that wasn't hit, by the graces of God.”

Robinson's 17-year-old brother wasn't as lucky. He was shot once in the back. Robinson’s brother didn't want to talk to us about the incident, but his mother, Bridget Fisher, did.

“He didn't even want me to come on TV because they don't have the guy and I'm saying no, they've got to catch this guy,” said Fisher.

“We are working with the victims to develop more leads and to protect the victims and to protect the integrity of the case, we can't release the suspect information at this time,” said Lt. Kevin Warych with the Green Bay Police Department.

Police did share gas station surveillance photos. They believe a man in the pictures was involved in the shooting. Police also released a photo of the vehicle the suspects drove away in after the shooting.

Anyone with information is asked to call Crime Stoppers at (920) 432-7867. Tips can also be submitted online.

Police warn not to approach the the person or the vehicle shown in the photos, but say the general public is not in danger.

“It's also important that we believe these victims were targeted and that we don't have any information to believe that the public is in danger,” said Warych.

Robinson isn't convinced that is the case. We did a FOX 11 Fact Check, and found Robinson is on probation for a misdemeanor drug charge. However, Robinson contends he isn't sure why he or his friends were shot at.

“I think it was just a random shooting,” said Robinson.

“A lot of people who have guns, shouldn't have guns,” said Fisher. “It's making our communities unsafe.”

“I watch my back,” said Robinson. “I'm extra cautious now.”

Robinson says that will continue until someone is behind bars.

“I just hope they catch him,” said Robinson. “I hope they find this maniac.”

After our interview with Robinson, we tried to speak with Green Bay police again. The department said it's not going to release any more information at this time.
