GREEN BAY - A challenge for local families to lead healthier lifestyles started Saturday.
The Healthy America Family Challenge kicked off its first day of activities at the Green Bay Boys and Girls Club.
For 10 weeks, families will learn about nutrition and increase physical activity, while earning points and prizes.
Saturday’s activities included rock climbing and relay races.
Organizers say it's important to get people exercising throughout the year.
"We really are looking at, how can people stay active in the wintertime or have facilities where they can be doing things with healthy eating, active living, in the winter,” said Melinda Morella.
Challenge activities are free and open to the public.
They will take place every Saturday at each of the Green Bay Boys and Girls Clubs through March 23.
The 10-week challenge is funded by a $10,000 grant from the Wisconsin Beverage Association and the American Beverage Foundation for a Healthy America.
