Investigation into buffalo deaths concluded

ONEIDA - The Oneida Nation has wrapped up its investigation into the deaths of 25 buffalo in September.

It happened at the Oneida Farm's west pasture. That's located in Outagamie County, on Cooper Road, off of Highway 54.

Authorities say the animals died of dehydration after the herd's water supply was shut off. The investigation; however, wasn't able to determine how the water was turned off.

The Oneida Nation says one employee was disciplined for not following policy to check on the buffalo.

A lock has been placed on the current pump to prevent it from being turned off. A security fence will also be installed next spring.
