GREEN BAY - The experts in charge of renovating Lambeau Field say the total project is about 30% complete. But they say everything is on track.
The months of work on Lambeau Field's $143 million renovation are easy to see from outside the stadium.
On Tuesday afternoon, Packers officials provided FOX 11 a behind the scenes tour of the construction, including a trip to the stadium’s roof.
“It's great to show people what we've been up to with their building because it is really everybody's building,” said Scott Stenman, the director of development for Hammes Company.
The Packers are happy with the progress.
“Workers are doing a great job,” said Aaron Pokey, a Packers spokesperson. “We've had a few weather instances, but nothing that has really pushed us off at all, so everything is on schedule.”
Right now, crews are focusing on finishing the north end zone for next season. Panels for its new video board are set to be installed next week.
The south end zone's new scoreboard is set to be done in June.
Both video screens will be HD and four times the size of the old ones.
Fans will get their first chance to see the new scoreboards on July 24th at the team's annual shareholders' meeting.
“We visit with fans who are just here visiting in the atrium, but there's a buzz about the structures and there's some excitement as to what the finished product will be,” said Popkey.
Besides the scoreboards, crews are busy constructing 6,700 new seats, two additional gates and a rooftop viewing platform. Crews will work though the next season.
“We won't have nearly as an extensive project to run the perimeter of the building going on as there was ten years ago,” said Stenman.
The entire project is set to be complete for the 2013 season.
