GREEN BAY - The demolition of the Mason Street overpass over Highway 41 in Green Bay will start earlier than expected, the Department of Transportation has announced.

Workers will be allowed to begin tearing down the overpass because of lower-than-expected traffic volumes on the highway at night.

During demolition work, all of Highway 41 will be closed under the overpass. Traffic will be detoured around the demolition using the entrance and exit ramps. The highway will also be reduced to one lane between Lombardi Avenue and Highway 29 during demolition.

Dates and times of the demolition are:

  • Thursday, Feb. 2-Friday, Feb. 3: 8 p.m.-5 a.m.
  • Friday, Feb. 3-Satursday, Feb. 4: 9:30 p.m.-7 a.m.
  • Monday, Feb. 6-Tuesday, Feb. 7: 8 p.m.-5 a.m.
  • Tuesday, Feb. 7-Wednesday, Feb. 8: 8 p.m.-5 a.m.

The overpass is scheduled to be closed until August.
