People who would be affected by proposed power lines running from the Green Bay area to Upper Michigan will get some chances to learn more about the project.

The American Transmission Company announced the Bay Lake Project earlier this year. The price tag could be a billion dollars. One line would run between the Green Bay area and Ishpeming, Mich. A separate line would run from Green Bay to near Oconto Falls. Two more lines would run from Menominee County to Escanaba. To round out the project, a new substation will be built in the Green Bay area.

Here is the schedule of open house meetings:

Wednesday, Oct. 3, 2012: Harris, Mich.

1-7 p.m. ET

Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012: Crivitz
