FLORENCE CO - On Sunday, August 30 at 1:56am The Florence County Sheriff's Office received a 911 call of a 1 vehicle rollover on State Hwy 70 about 5 miles west of Dream Lake Road.
A vehicle driven by Ricky Stamour, 44 of De Pere, WI was traveling eastbound on State Hwy 70 when he swerved to avoid a deer. The vehicle left the roadway and rolled over hitting some trees.
A passenger, Jason Howell, 32 of Green Bay was pinned in the vehicle. Howell was extricated from the vehicle by personnel from the Long Lake and Florence Fire Departments.
Stamour and Howell were transported to NorthStar Hospital in Iron River by Long Lake Rescue Squad and NorthStar Ambulance. Howell was transferred to Marquette General Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.
Stamour and Howell were not wearing a seatbelt. Alcohol is believed to be have contributed to the accident and it remains under investigation.
