Packerland Ride helps local MDA patients

GREEN BAY - Motorcyclists from all over the state were hitting the road for a good cause this weekend.

Saturday marked the 19th annual Packerland Ride for the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

The event kicked off at Northeast Wisconsin Technical College in Green Bay.

Hundreds of bikers turned out for the ride to Bonduel.

The money raised stays local.

It helps people with Muscular Dystrophy with their needs.

The ride also helps pay for an upcoming summer camp for children.

Organizers said it's great way to give back to the community.

"It does stay local, yes it does, and that's the best part of this event, is that people are coming out, they get to help their neighbors right in their own backyard," said Roxanne Shimek with the Muscular Dystrophy Association.

Last year, about $50,000 was raised.

Organizers say they hope to meet that goal or surpass it this year.
