Phuture Phoenix program hits milestone

GREEN BAY - A program that gives an academic push to area children has reached a milestone.

Tuesday, the Phuture Phoenix program welcomed its 10,000 fifth grader.

The program is put on by the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay.

It encourages 5th graders to pursue higher education.

As part of the program the university opens its classrooms and shows how college is very different than grade school. Kids are then paired up with mentors.
