HOWARD - Teams of shoppers dashed up and down the aisles Thursday at the Piggly Wiggly in Howard, filling their carts with food. It was for the "Race for the Hungry" competition.
The participants grabbed soups, boxed dinners and other non-perishable items based on a list of things they had to collect.
The first team to grab everything and check out won the race.
The food will be donated to the Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry in Green Bay and to Saint Joseph's Food Pantry in Appleton.
"It's our way of giving back to the community, for what they've helped us through; and, I think it's something God would want us to do, to help others less fortunate," said shopper Laurie Parkinson.
Races were also held at Copps East in Green Bay and Festival Foods in Appleton.
