ASHWAUBENON - The Salvation Army is drumming up donations for its Red Kettle campaign.
The bells have been ringing for about a week, but the Salvation Army of Brown County kicked off its overall Christmas campaign Tuesday.
The organization says it saw a 10 percent increase in need.
This year's goal is to raise $1.2 million. That's $100,000 more than last year.
The organization says its goal is based on need.
“This year it's important that we reach the goal not just so we can keep things at status quo, but so that we can go beyond that point and give people the tools they need to solve homelessness,” said Capt. Ken Shields.
The Green Bay Packers were also involved in the kick-off. Officials kicked a football into a Red Kettle to celebrate.
And host, Schneider National also contributed a $5,000 donation.
